Biography

Michelle Randall earned her B.A. in Humanities and Fine Arts magna cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1996, and her M.A. in Art History from the University of Chicago in 1998. While in Chicago she assisted the Curator of Earlier Prints and Drawings at the Art Institute of Chicago in Provenance Research, researching over 300 drawings in the collection. She also taught courses at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Mannerism, High Renaissance, and the History and Technique of Old Master Drawings. She became a Ph.D. candidate in 2004 at the University of Chicago, has traveled extensively in Italy, and held an internship at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy. She also was the Assistant to the Curator of the United States Pavilion at the Biennale in Venice in 1997, where she worked closely with Robert Colescott. Her current interests include the (cross-cultural) motif of the garden in art, and the Classical tradition in Italian Renaissance Art.</p>
